International Mountain Day

The United Nations General Assembly designated 11 December as International Mountain Day. Since 2003, it has been observed annually to raise awareness about the importance of mountains to life, highlight both the opportunities and challenges in mountain development, and build alliances that support positive change for mountain people and environments around the world.
